About us

Since 1983, the Braves have been an intricate part of the Mukwonago Football tradition. For the past 43 years, volunteer coaches have been teaching the proper fundamentals and techniques of football to the youth of the community. The program is structured that our 5th through 8th grade players learn the same offense and defense that the varsity level players run. Our goal is to have the Braves players well prepared for their transition to high school football and carry on the winning ways as a Mukwonago Indian. More than anything, we want the players to have fun and be safe.

Mukwonago Braves is a 501(c)(3) non-profit organization.

Board Members

Tom Karthausser - President

Tom joined the Braves leadership in 2019 and has served as the president of the Braves since 2021. Tom played collegiately at UW-Whitewater. Following his playing days, Tom coached varsity football at Whitefish Bay High School in 2004 and 2005, and Nicolet Union High School in 2006 and 2007. Tom joined the coaching staff at UW-Whitewater in 2008, and coached for six seasons, winning four national championships and one runner-up. In 2014, Tom started coaching youth football, and has been involved at the youth levels for the past 12 years. Tom lives in Mukwonago with his wife Andrea, and their two sons, Owen and Jace.

Adam Kreger - Vice President

Adam joined the Bravers board in 2022 and has served as the vice president since 2024. Adam has coached youth sports in Mukwonago for the past 15 years and is currently coaching freshman linebackers and fullbacks at Mukwonago High School. Adam is a 2003 graduate from Mukwonago High School. Adam lives in Mukwonago with his wife Rachel and their two sons, Connor and Clayton. Adam is dedicated to maintaining the integrity of the Braves football program, helping it grow and making sure all Mukwonago football players have the opportunity to gain all the life skills that his sons received from their time in the Braves organization.

Mike Gnewuch - MHS Varsity Football Coach

Since the Braves were founded in 1983, the MHS head football coach has always held a seat on the board of directors. Coach G was hired as the head football coach at Mukwonago High School in 2018, and since that time, the Braves board has worked tirelessly to make Mukwonago the best 5th through 12th football program in the state. Coach G also serves as the head boys track coach and as a teacher in the Physical Education department, where he teaches advanced weight training.

Dave Adams - Equipment Manager

Coach Adams has been an assistant football coach at Mukwonago High School at the Varsity level since 2002, and assistant track coach since 2022. Currently serving as the Town of Mukwonago and Village of Vernon’s Director of Parks and Recreation, Adams is heavily involved with the youth flag football program, which is incorporating the girls middle school program for 5^th/6^th and 7^th/8^th grade girls beginning in the fall of 2026, amongst other programs and opportunities for Mukwonago youth and community members. Dave and his wife Kari live in Mukwonago and have two sons, Gavin and Sawyer, whom played for Mukwonago as Braves and Indians.

Anthony Cox - Board Member

Anthony has over 10 years of coaching, and is entering his 5th year coaching with the Braves. Anthony is a dedicated football and wrestling coach in the Mukwonago community, and is committed to helping young athletes grow both on and off the field. In addition to coaching the Braves, Coach Cox will serve as an assistant wrestling coach with the Mukwonago Indians varsity wrestling team. Anthony and his wife Jill live in Mukwonago and their four children: Connor, Parker, Gabriella, and Carter.

Shane Herbig - Treasurer

Shane has lived in Mukwonago for 20 years and has coached 7th grade football with the Braves for 12 years. Shane's son Evan played Mukwonago football from flag through his senior year, and led his team to Camp Randall for a state championship appearance in 2022. Shane is a proud military veteran. His daughter Alyssa is a 2021 graduate of Mukwonago High School and Evan is a 2023 graduate. Shane lives in Mukwonago with his wife Jena.

Rusty Schoolcraft - Game Day Site Manager

Rusty is a lifelong resident of Mukwonago, graduating from Mukwonago High School in 1981. Rusty has worked with the Braves since 1999. In total, he has coached Braves football for 17 years, and served as a 7th grade head coach for 14 years. Rusty has seen more Mukwonago football football games than anyone else on planet Earth. On Thursday and Friday nights, you can find Rusty in the scorebooth running the clock for high school football games, and on Saturdays for the Braves. Rusty lives in Mukwonago with his wife Kris.

Andy Jaskulski - Board Member

Coach Jaskulski is a lifelong football player, mentor, and coach. He played collegiate football at Lakeland University. After his time at Lakeland, Coach Jaskulski played in Europe, then semi-professionally, and then coached at his alma mater, Whitnall High School. After relocating to Mukwonago, his love of the game brought him to the Braves to continue his passion of helping develop young players and keep their love of the game. As a girl dad, and basketball dad, Coach Jaskulski splits all of his time between the football field and gym with his wife Liz and daughter Averey.
